Getting to us from Holt

At the roundabout, take the second exit (straight ahead), then take the second right by the War Memorial and in approximately 150 yards, go left again opposite the Kings Head Pub.  Follow the road for about 5 miles, heading down the hill past the church on your right to a T-Junction with main coast road.

Turn right here and wind through the narrow street for about 300 yards passing the George and Dragon Pub on your right.  You will see a small brown sign marked “Windmill” on your left.  This is your last turning and the Mill will appear in front of you round the corner.  Well done!

... from London and The South

From Central London you need to head for the City, then Canary Wharf and City Airport through Docklands.  Avoid the Leytonstone and Wapping way out to the M11 – it is absolutely jammed most of the time and even more unattractive than the Docklands route.  Heading to the M11 via City Airport is nearly always quick and traffic free.

Take M11 North, to junction 9, and follow A11 to Newmarket/Bury St Edmunds.  A11 joins the A14 and turns north again as the A11.  At the roundabout at Barton Mills take the exit for the A1065 to Brandon*, Swaffham and on to Fakenham.  At Fakenham follow the A148 signed Cromer, to Holt.

On entering Holt, very soon after the 30 mph sign, take first left by War Memorial (signed Town Centre) and after approximately 150 yards turn left again, opposite the Kings Head Pub.  Follow the road approximately 5 miles to Cley, and head down the hill, past the church on your right to a T-Junction at the bottom.  This is the main coast road.  Turn right here and wind through the narrow street for about 300 yards, passing the George Hotel on your right.  You will see a small brown sign on your left marked “Windmill”.  This is your last turning and the Windmill will appear in front of you.  Well done!

... from the North and Midlands

From pretty much any place West or North of North Norfolk you will have to head for Kings Lynn first of all.  By pass Kings Lynn, looking out for the A148 to Fakenham and Cromer.

At Fakenham, follow the A148 again, signposted to Cromer, as far as Holt.  On entering Holt, very soon after the 30 m.p.h. sign, take the first left by the War Memorial and in approximately 150 yards, go left again opposite the Kings Head Pub.  Follow the road for about 5 miles, heading down the hill past the church on your right to a T-Junction with main coast road.

Turn right here and wind through the narrow street for about 300 yards passing the George and Dragon Pub on your right.  You will see a small brown sign marked “Windmill” on your left.  This is your last turning and the Windmill will appear in front of you round the corner.  Well done!
